Sunday, June 15th, 2008: For the newcomer to professional baseball, today's amateur draft is a rite of passage. Every young player in the country is filtered through the draft pool, assessed, reassessed, scrutinized and run through several mock drafts even before they get to the real thing. But on draft day, once you've been picked, you have a shot to do what so few men in history have done, become a Major League Baseball ballplayer. Toronto, Boston, Atlanta, Seattle and Milwaukee will have the first five picks. The top ten players, as rated by BNN, are:

1. Andrew McCutchen, 21 year-old center fielder out of college.
2. Bud Norris, 23 year-old starting pitcher out of college.
3. Brett Anderson, 20 year-old starting pitcher out of college.
4. Daniel Hudson, 21 year-old starting pitcher out of college.
5. Madison Bumgarner, 18 year-old starting pitcher out of high-school.
6. Kenshin Kawakami, 32 year-old starting pitcher out of college.
7. Ricky Romero, 23 year-old starting pitcher out of college.
8. Tommy Hanson, 21 year-old starting pitcher out of college.
9. Doug Fister, 24 year-old starting pitcher out of college.
10. Drew Stubbs, 23 year-old center fielder out of college.
